7 Tips In Raising A Healthy & Happy Child
Raising a child can be fun, exciting, and yes, challenging. Seeing your child grow from being a delicate baby to an active kid is a memorable experience and stage in your life as a parent or guardian. But beyond the joy and happiness in that journey, there is also hardship, pressure, and stress on your part as the one who is the ultimate responsible.
To help you in your course through raising your child, here are seven tips to ensure your child grows healthy and happy:
1) MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD EATS HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS MEALS
Children are not initially aware which foods are healthy and which are not. They will eat anything you feed them or let them eat with their own hands. They don’t have the initial awareness if a food is good or bad for their health. But they will eventually learn this as you guide their diet and eating habits.
For now while they are too young to know, you have to make sure that every food or meal that you prepare for your child is healthy and delicious. That way, your child will find satisfaction and enjoyment in the experience of eating.
How can you make sure that your child gets proper nourishment? You have to remember the Go, Glow, and Grow foods and all these types of foods should be included in your child’s diet.
Go foods are the ones that give you energy such as rice, bread, cereals, potatoes, and other carbohydrates, sugar, isilax and fat-rich foods. Glow foods are foods rich in vitamins and minerals like fruits, vegetables, milk, fish, and nuts. 2) PLAY WITH THEM OR LET THEM PLAY WITH FRIENDS AND PETS
Studies have shown that children learn a lot when they play. Make sure that you have time to play and enjoy with your child and when they become able to, let them play with friends and pets in or outside your home.
Playing develops your child’s motor functions, brain processing, imagination, happiness, and relationship with you and their playmates. If you deprive your child of play and enjoyment, they could feel sad, depressed, and not energetic.
3) TAKE CARE OF THEIR SKIN
If you allow your child to have wounds and bruises during his/her younger days, it could leave scars that can last until his/her adulthood. So, it is best to really take good care of your child’s skin.
Make sure to take care and properly treat your child’s wounds and bruises if ever he/she gets hurt during playtime. Taking care of their skin by treating wounds properly and making sure their skin is hydrated will ensure your child will not have any skin infections or problems.
4) TEACH THEM ABOUT CLEANLINESS AND PROPER HYGIENE
Regular washing of hands, taking a shower or bath, and keeping their bodies, clothes, and spaces clean and tidy are very important ways to maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene. It is best to teach your child early on how to be clean and take care of themselves so that when they grow up, they will be able to lead a clean and organized way of living.
5)SHOW THEM RESPECT AND APPRECIATION
Research shows that children crave for appreciation, attention, and respect. They love it when people around them, especially their parents, give them time and value, appreciate their being, and respect their individuality. Appreciating and respecting your child will help him/her grow up to be a person who values relationships, appreciates uniqueness, and exercises respect to all people.
6) LIMIT THEIR EXPOSURE TO VIOLENCE
When your child sees violence when watching TV or when you’re browsing for online videos, it is more likely that your child will replicate the violent act or assume that the violent act is normal and fine to do. Hence, it is best that you limit your child’s exposure to violence so that no negative effects, notions, traumas, or habits can be formed as your child grows.
7) SPEND TIME WITH THEM AND MAKE THEM FEEL LOVED
Finally, the best way to raise a healthy and happy child is to spend quality time with them and to always make them feel loved and appreciated. Any child who is given proper attention, care, and love will grow up to be a joyful, healthy, and active kid.
